BTS Gold Medal Performance in Vancouver

33,900 Guests, 8,400 Gourmet Pizzas, 9,200 All Beef Hot Dogs, 850 pounds of Canadian Cheddar Cheese, 17,400 Apples, 3000 pounds of Sirloin Steak, 2800 Grade AA Organic Eggs…another day (yes, just one day) at the office for BTS. The 2010 Winter Olympic and Paralympic Games were held in Vancouver, British Columbia (Canada) this past February and March. |
BTS has participated in this, the world’s largest sporting event, for more than 10 years. In fact BTS is the only catering company in the world to have participated consecutively in each of the past six (6) Olympic Games. The Vancouver Olympic project was by far the most ambitious and successful Olympic Games in BTS’s history with the event. BTS received numerous accolades and thank you notes from our clients, including NBC Olympics Broadcasting stating, “…another Gold Medal Performance by the BTS Team!”
BTS set up 12 temporary kitchen compounds, 18 guest dining facilities, and a central distribution warehouse all to service the thousands of broadcast crews, athletes, sponsors, and ticketed patrons of the Games. BTS operated hospitality and catering services for NBC Olympics, CTV Olympics, NBC News, Omega/Swiss Timing, and the Vancouver Olympic Organizing Committee (VANOC).
This was the first Olympic event that BTS stepped into the front of house at the competition venues, operating general public and media concessions at 7 Olympic Venues and 1 Paralympic Venue. In addition BTS serviced hospitality skybox suites for VIP and sponsor guests at the popular Figure Skating, Speed Skating, Snowboard/Freestyle, and Alpine/Downhill Skiing venues. The operation employed more than 750 locally based Canadian staff in addition to an international event management team recruited by BTS, including Venue Managers, and some of the most experienced Chef’s from around the globe.
During the 75+ days of service in to the various constituent groups in Vancouver, BTS maintained our service offices in both San Diego and Chicago catering intimate weddings, a corporate product launch, backstage catering for a touring music artist, and many other client events. Despite the behemoth efforts in Vancouver, BTS remains committed to our San Diego and Chicago clientele. Now that Spring has sprung BTS has new menus and clients we look forward to catering to in the coming months…wine dinners, weddings, music festivals, Eco-product launches, and so many other exciting events.
